This Privacy Policy explains how Spider InfoTech Services (“we”, “us”, the “Service Provider”) handles information in connection with TongCast — our Bengali-language news digest service, comprising the websites tongcast.com and m.tongcast.com, our mobile applications, and our official channels on third-party platforms including YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn (together, the “Service”).

Note on app names: our mobile applications are currently published on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store under the name Daily Mint. Daily Mint is the earlier version of the same service and is operated by the same Service Provider. This Privacy Policy applies to the Daily Mint applications as well as to TongCast, and will continue to apply after the applications are rebranded to TongCast.

By using the Service you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Information we collect

Information collected automatically. When you visit our websites or use our applications, we may collect:

• your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address
• the pages you visit, and the date, time and duration of those visits
• your device type, operating system and browser
• the referring website or application

We do not collect precise geolocation data.

Information you provide. If you contact us or subscribe to updates, we collect the email address and any other details you choose to send us. You do not need to create an account to read our content.

How we use information

• to deliver and display our content correctly on your device
• to understand which stories readers find useful, in aggregate
• to maintain the security and reliability of the Service
• to respond to enquiries you send us
• to send you notices or updates where you have asked to receive them

YouTube API Services

TongCast publishes its own original video content to its own YouTube channel using YouTube API Services.

Our use of YouTube API Services is limited to uploading videos that we have produced ourselves to the channel that we own. We do not use the YouTube API to collect, store or process any personal information about you, and we do not access, retrieve or store data from any other YouTube channel or YouTube user.

By using the Service, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, available at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.

Information handled by Google in connection with YouTube API Services is governed by the Google Privacy Policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

You may review and revoke TongCast’s access to your Google account data at any time through the Google security settings page at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Third-party services

Our websites and applications make use of third-party services that maintain their own privacy policies:

Only aggregated, anonymised data is transmitted to these services to help us improve the Service.

News content and sources

TongCast publishes short summaries of publicly reported news events. Each summary credits the originating news organisation by name and links to our corresponding article page. We do not republish full articles from other outlets. If you are a rights holder and believe content has been used improperly, please contact us at the address below and we will respond promptly.

Disclosure of information

We may disclose information:

• as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process
• where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a lawful government request
• to trusted service providers who work on our behalf, who have no independent right to use the information, and who are bound by this policy

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We retain information you have provided for as long as you use the Service and for a reasonable period thereafter. To request deletion of data you have provided, contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Your choices

You can stop all collection of information by our mobile applications by uninstalling them, using the standard uninstall process for your device or app marketplace. You can limit information collected by our websites through your browser’s privacy settings.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it from our systems. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information should contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Security

We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards designed to protect the information we process. Credentials used to access third-party APIs are stored server-side with restricted filesystem permissions and are not exposed publicly. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
